Let us take you away to the wonderful world of illustrator Redmer Hoekstra. For Heinen Delfts Blauw this humorous and philosophical artist created a collection of Delft blue wall plates, including this one with a pile of zebras and a lazy pig with his piglets.

The zebras are having a hard time, being piled up like a tower of Delft blue soup bowls. Only the bottom zebra has his legs free to stand on and to carry the burden. The lazy pig on top with his three piglets doesn’t seem to mind at all, as long as they are moving in the right direction.
For Redmer the biggest challenge was to bring his oddball world together with the world of Heinen Delfts Blauw. “I wanted to make every illustration different and yet let all characters on the plates live in the same world. This way they can shine on their own, but they also go perfectly well together.”
