The elephant, who sees absolutely nothing, as he is wrapped inside a Delft blue tulip vase, has no idea where he is going. Not that this matters much, because the bossy giraffes are having a clear view on the road with their long necks sticking out of the several spouts. One holds a map and the other one holds the strings to let the elephant know where to go.
For Redmer the biggest challenge was to bring his oddball world together with the world of Heinen Delfts Blauw. “I wanted to make every illustration different and yet let all characters on the plates live in the same world. This way they can shine on their own, but they also go perfectly well together.”
